What is Simple Spaces all about?

Hello and welcome to our first post. I am so excited to begin the online journey of the business having quietly tipped away offline for some time.

Simple Space is all about creating functional, beautiful and simple spaces to live and work in by decluttering, organising and simplifying.

Let me explain.

Many of us (myself included) have at some point found ourselves saying ‘I wish I had more space’ or ‘I could do with some additional storage’. Simple Spaces is here to show you that you most of the time you do not need more space or storage options at all. You simply need to take stock of what you have in your space, understand its value to you and then decide if that value is worth the time, space and cost of keeping the item. In a huge amount of cases it's not worth it and so the process of decluttering and space creation starts.

I believe that the spaces we live in work in should be:

a) functional – they work to fulfil their purpose

b) beautiful – this can mean very different things to different people but in general it means that you love spending time in the space and it makes you happy and comfortable.

c) devoid of excess – excess being all those things that do not have a purpose or are not adding any value to your life.

Time and time again I see that a space that fulfills these three criteria is one that brings its inhabitant joy, peace and the most common word I hear – ‘freedom’. Freedom to spend time and energy on the things in life that really matter. By clearing physical space it creates mental and emotional space.

Between here and our social media channels I will share tips and tricks on how to get started, how to declutter different rooms, categories and how to maintain it. I will also share some wonderful before and afters to show how decluttering does not have to mean getting rid of everything. Equally I will show you that organising does not mean a shopping trip to stock up on storage boxes!!

So, that’s the quick introduction to what we do. After years of organsing, decluttering reeading, watching and learning to understand spaces I am ready to bring Simple Spaces online and to you. I hope we can help you create your own Simple Space.
